Description

The Alpinestars SM3 Wurx Youth Helmet is anatomically engineered to provide optimal performance and safety for youth and younger riders. Its lightweight outer shell is constructed from a technologically advanced, impact-resistant thermoplastic polymer blend, thermo-injected with varying degrees of thickness to deliver an optimal balance of protection and a low overall weight of 1060g. Designed with a multi-density inner liner, this helmet ensures enhanced impact absorption in critical areas while minimizing weight. A key safety feature is Alpinestars' patented low friction coating, applied to the main EPS liner. This coating acts as a slip plane, mimicking the brain’s natural defenses to reduce rotational acceleration forces from oblique impacts, a common cause of serious injury. The helmet also boasts a patented visor release system, engineered to detach with a pre-determined amount of force, thereby reducing stress on the rider’s neck during a crash. Comfort is paramount, with a liner constructed from recycled materials, integrated hydration tube channels within the cheek pads, and a 25mm soft textile chin strap secured by stainless steel D-rings for a tight, secure, and comfortable fit. Ventilation is maximized with 10 inlets and seven exhaust ports, ensuring high levels of heat transfer and airflow, further enhanced by a visor designed to direct air into these ports. Alpinestars has even developed an in-house standard for the SM3 Youth, exceeding homologation standards for chin impact protection, optimizing shell thickness and design in this crucial area. The Youth Medium (YM) and Youth Large (YL) sizes share the same EPS size, allowing for growth customization via optional crown and cheek pad spare parts.
