Small ends are double drilled to provide extra lubrication and cooling to the wrist pin bearing, crucial when the piston crown is close to the wrist pin bearing. Shot-peened to eliminate surface stress risers and double honing produces an ultra-round bearing surface, guaranteeing reliability at high RPM.
